FLIRTY PEPLUM TOP

I have had the Peppermint Magazine Peplum Top by In the Folds on my to make list for sooo long and I really wish I hadn’t waited so long- I LOOOVE it!

I have seen RTW tops with similar silhouettes and knew I could create my own using this pattern. I had this pretty rayon fabric from my stash in mind for the top. I had snatched it up from a local shop where I used to live.

WEARING: BRIXTON HAT, MADEWELL JEANS, MIA & MAC NECKLACE

To be totally honest, I didn’t have very high expectations for this (FREE!) pattern. I had a bit of a hard time printing the pattern to scale, but ended up kinda winging it taping it together. I wasn’t sure if the fit would be what I had envisioned, if my fabric I chose would cooperate… it was a free pattern after all and I was using fabric I already had in my stash, what do I have to lose…. BUT- as soon as I tried on the stitched together top portion I was really feeling it and got excited for the project!

I followed the pattern instructions exactly and didn’t make any modifications other than adding top stitching to the peplum. I sewed up a size “C’ according to my measurements. The fit is perfect and exactly what I wanted- I love the crop length as well! Being a mom, I like the bit higher neckline so I’m not adjusting my top while holding my baby. I feel so flirty and sexy in this top but it’s not revealing at all, it’s all in the fit! Using rayon did make this a bit more of a challenge but it really paid off, I love how flowy and lightweight it is.

I definitely recommend this pattern, especially if you are new to the print at home PDF patterns- it’s free! But I’d hope you have better luck than me with the paper sizing! Other than that it is a fun and easy make, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking of making another one already! I also may need to go check out their other patterns one more time, hmm…

Hope you have a great week!
